How to use Mr. / Ms. / Mrs. in 2020

Note: I actually recommend not using any of these. Also, sometimes we do use both first and last name when using these.

And if you really want to be respectful, the best thing to do is ask the other person what they prefer to be called by saying:

“How do you prefer that I address you?”

✅Mr. + Last name
is for any man who you want to show respect to.

✅Ms. + Last name
is for any woman who you want to show respect to.

✅Mrs. + Last name
is for any married woman who requests that you call her that, but it is better to use “Ms.” first, and only use “Mrs.” if she asks you to.

(this is essentially because a woman being married or not married should not affect the level of respect that you give her)
